The Challenger 1 played a key role in British military history as the main battle tank from 1983 to 2001. He received his baptism of fire in the Gulf War of 1991, where he distinguished himself through exceptional marksmanship. The continuous modernization, especially the additional armor of the Mk. 3 version, made it one of the best protected tanks of its time. The massive 1,200 hp engine gave the 62-ton colossus a remarkable speed of 56 km/h.
