The Flakpanzer IV "Möbelwagen" was created in 1944 as a response to the increasing need for mobile anti-aircraft defense. It owed its nickname to the characteristic armor plates that were opened during battle and were reminiscent of a furniture van. The vehicle was based on the proven Panzer IV chassis and was armed with the effective 3.7 cm Flak 43. This combination made it an important part of German anti-aircraft defense in the late phase of the war.
