Heller Le Glorieux 1:150 Scale   (HE80889)

This ship was built in the reign of Louis XV. It was laid down in Rochefort in 1756 from plans drawn by Clairin-Deslaupiers.It was classed as a 74 guns ship, and a special peculiarity is a copper bottomed hull. This lining practice became general much later, after 1770. If enabled the hull, and notably the bottom to be proof against worms and other parasites.LE GLORIEUX carries 74 guns, sited as: 28 36-pounders on the first battery deck, 30 18-pounders on the second battery deck and 16 8-pounders guns on the forecastle. As with all 74 gun vessels, LE GLORIEUX had no port shutter in the second battery.Like all ships built early in the XVlllth century, LE GLORIEUX has a round backed superstructure.ln 1779, it was among the ships forming the Comte d'Estaing’s squadron, also known as the American Squadron. It was a part of the Blue Fleet, whose flagship was “LA COURONNE”.

Heller La Sirene 1:150 Scale  (HE80893)

The Chevalier de la Boissière, was the first Captain of the ship la Sirène, when she was launched in the year of grace 1772, and was extremely proud of the galleries as well as the stern of the ship. The presence of a crown on the last upper bulkhead, beneath the poop deck, suggests the presence on board of a high ranking person, probably a Prince of royal blood. Sumptuously decorated and painted, the galleries of la Sirène were in fact so large you could even find gardens where more than 120 people were able to take a stroll during the receptions which took place here. Out of the three gilded and engraved brass lanterns, the biggest was so large that more 10 men could hide inside it.

Heller Le Superbe 1:150 Scale

Heller Le Superbe 1:150 Scale  (HE80895)

The product of a maritime programme intended to increase the diversity of the naval forces of Louis XVI in the XVIII th century, work on constructing the Superbe, which was a long time in the designing, commenced in 1782 on the basis of plans prepared by the engineer Jacques-Noël Sané. The specific feature of this vessel was the copper lined hull. This practice of hull lining became general from 1770 onwards. It protected the hull, and in particular the keel, from attack from parasites. The Superbe was fitted out with 74 cannons distributed as follows: 28 x 36 pound guns in the first battery, 30 x 18 pound guns in the second battery and 16 x 8 pounders on the poop deck. As on all 74 cannon vessels, the Superbe had no port Iids on the second battery. It should be noted that the figurehead on this boat represents a coat of arms, which was in principle imposed as a compulsory element in 1785. Commissioned by the Navy of Admiral Villaret De Joyeuse, in January 1795 the ship suffered a violent storm. This damaged several ships in the Navy, including the Superbe. Deemed beyond repair on account of the many leaks, Admiral Villaret De Joyeuse decided to abandon ship

Heller HMS Victory 1803 1:100 Scale

Heller HMS Victory 1803 1:100 Scale  (HE80897)

The HELLER Model is the English Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson's "H.M.S. Victory”, three-Decker-vessel that was involved in the Trafalgar battle and is the Royal Navy fifth vessel of that name. On 28th October 1760 the ship was officially named "Victory”. In 1777 Great Britain was at war again and on 8th May 1778 the completed vessel was launched as Admiral Vessel under the command of Admiral Lord Keppel to fight her first battle against the French fleet near the Brittany coast. April 1803 she was armed again, with her appearance very different. Most of the gol¬den ornamentation had been changed, or had been deleted. When she then went back to sea she had the looks that are much admired today. In 1825, the vessel became Portsmouth Chief Admiral Headquarters and kept this honour until 1869. The honour was restored to her 32 years later in 1901. In 1921, the Nautical Research Society, whose president was Lord Mildford Haven, organised a campaign to save the Victory and on 12th January she was moved into the oldest dry dock in the world: Portsmouth Dock N°2. It is in this dock that she can still be admired, and remains in remarkable condition.

Heller U-Boat 1:400 Scale

Heller U-Boat 1:400 Scale  (HE81002)

Type VIIC U-boats or Unterseeboote were the most common and most celebrated of the German submarines in WW II. Part of a large series (707 units in total launched from 1936 and including the VIIA to F), 663 of them were built between 1938 and the end of 1944). They underwent a number of changes during the conflict, the most notable being removal of the 8.8 cm forward gun and alterations of the shape of the conning tower to fit a more powerful anti-aircraft gun, various detection aerials or the Schnorchel (VIIC/41). Builts by Germania Werft in Kiel, Blohm & Voss in Hamburg and Kriegsmarinewerft in Wihelmshaven among others, the VIIC were relatively inexpensive as they were quite simple to produce.

Heller Sous-marin Daphne 1:400 Scale  (HE81069)

The first vessel in a series of eleven, the submarine "Daphne" was christened on 10 October 1955. Put on the slipway in March 1958 in the Dubigeon shipyards in Nantes, it was floated on 20 June 1959 and had its first tests on 14 January 1961, upon which date it left Nantes, and went by Cherbourg for completion.
Entered into service between 1964 and 1970, the 1000 tonne conventionally powered "Daphnes" were high performance submarines. Embodying the characteristics of propulsion, detection, silence and manoeuvrability of the "ARETHUSE" class, of which they were an extrapolation of sorts, the specifications of these oceanic submarines emphasised the depth of immersion, the means of detection and weaponry. But they could not reload their pipes in the sea.

The Bismark, the outcome of the 1935 naval rearmament program, was laid down on july 1, 1936 at the Blohm and Voss shipyards in Hamburg. It cost was estimated at 196 million marks. With an overall length of 251 meters and a beam of 38 meters, the ship required a crew of 2092 men. It was launched on February 14, 1939 and entered active service on August 24, 1940. It was during the “Rheinübung” campaign that it sank the English battle ship Hood and damaged the Prince of Wales in the strait of Denmark on May 26, 1941. With its rubber hit by a plane from the English aircraft carrier Ark Royal (and therefore unable to maneuver), the Bismark faced the English battleships King George V and Rodney during the battle of May 27, 1941. The Bismark was hit by several torpedoes and, after having run out of ammunition, the ship was scuttled.

The naval epos of the GNEISENAU, parallel to that of the SCHARNHORST, started under the command of Captains FORSTE, NETZBANDT and FEIN, from May 1938 to April 1942. On 4 September 1939, she was attacked by the English bombers. In February 1940, along with the SCHARNHORST and ADMIRAL HIPPER, the GNEISENAU participated to several battles against the "England-Scandinavia" enemy convoys. In April 1940, she took part in the NARVIK battle. In June 1940, during the JUNO mission, the aircraft carrier GLORIOUS, the destroyers ARDENT and ACASTA belonging to the English Fleet, were sunk. In 1941, in the North Atlantic Ocean, she sank 5 merchant ships and 7 transportation ships. At the end of several RAF attacks, torpedoed and bombed a few times, the GNEISENAU was repaired in BREST, then in WILHEMSHAVEN and KIEL by the end of 1941. Decommissioned in July 1942, the GNEISENAU was scuttled in March 1945, at the entrance of the harbor of GOTENHAVEN (GDYNIA) to provide a barrier against enemy forces.

Heller HMS Hood 1:400 Scale  (HE81081)

For twenty years, H.M.S HOOD was the largest war ship of the world ans was the pride of the Royal Navy. Her elegant outline and her beauty were in keeping with her speed (31 knots) and her fantastic firepower, represented by eight 15-inch guns.
The construction of the HOOD was undertaken on 31st May 1916. The ship was launched on 22nd August 1918, and was operational from 15th May 1920 onwards.
During the twenty years of her existence, the HOOD met with divided fortunes: she was docked several times to undergo alterations, was honoured by the visits of WINSTON CHURCHILL and king GEORGE VI, but also suffered two severe bombings, the first on 26th September 1939 by the LUFTWAFFE, and the second by the Italian air force in Mediterranean, in August 1940.
On 24th March 1941, the HOOD fought her last battle; meeting the BISMARCK was fatal for her. The HOOD went down in 90 seconds, taking 1418 officers ans sailors to their sea grave. There were only 3 survivors.
