Tamiya De Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI 1:32 Scale

Tamiya De Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI 1:32 Scale  (TAM60326)

Drawn up as a high speed, unarmed bomber, the twin engine De Havilland Mosquito fulfilled that role and so many more for the RAF and other Allied air forces during WWII, taking advantage of performance so astonishing it earned the aircraft its nickname: Wooden Wonder. (That, and the fact it was made largely of wood, in contrast to most of its contemporaries.) The FB Mk.VI fighter-bomber variant, which first appeared in the skies in Spring 1943, packed a punch with four 7.7mm nose-mounted machine guns and four powerful 20mm auto-cannons, plus the ability to carry four 500lb bombs. With around 2,700 produced it was the most prolifically manufactured Mosquito variant, and this high performance, multi-role aircraft was relied on to attack sensitive enemy targets such as SS facilities, V1 flying bomb sites, and munitions factories, taking advantage of its precision low-altitude bombing skills.

This is a 1/32 scale plastic model assembly kit. Fuselage length: 394.5mm, wingspan: 515.5mm.
The graceful, elegant lines of the Mosquito FB Mk.VI are captured with stunning accuracy.
Rivets are expertly depicted on parts such as engine cowlings and ailerons.
Flaps and elevators can be assembled in neutral or down positions.
Choose between standard exhausts or those fitted with flame damper covers, plus standard or tropical filter engine cowling undersides
2 different types of propeller blade parts are included.
Fit wing undersurfaces with 500lb bombs or drop tanks.

Tamiya North American P-51D Mustang 1:32 Scale

Tamiya North American P-51D Mustang 1:32 Scale  (TAM60322)

The P-51 Mustang is considered by many to be the best fighter aircraft of WWII. The P-51 Mustang came about when the British Purchasing Commission asked North American Aviation to produce the Curtiss P-40 for the RAF, but North American stated they could build something better. The P-51D is considered by many experts to be the definitive variant of the Mustang as it was the most widely produced. It featured a bubble canopy which gave the pilot superb all-round visibility as well as a heavier armament of six 12.7mm machine guns. Wing racks allowed the carriage of drop tanks to extend range or bombs for ground attack. P-51Ds were instrumental in helping the Allies gain air superiority over Europe, and after Germany's defeat, they continued their role as long-range escorts for B-29s attacking Japan. Many also saw service during the Korean War as fighter-bombers and a few even continued to serve with air forces of less developed nations until the 1980s.

Tamiya North American P-51D/K Mustang - Pacific Theater 1:32 Scale

Tamiya North American P-51D/K Mustang - Pacific Theater 1:32 Scale  (TAM60323)

The P-51D Mustang incorporated advanced features such as a laminar flow wing and an efficient radiator design. It was powered by the Packard-built Rolls-Royce Merlin V-1650 engine and it demonstrated superior high altitude performance compared to its rivals of the day. The P-51D was equipped with a Hamilton Standard propeller as standard but shortages of the propeller led to the installation of Aero products propellers on some P-51Ds built at North American's Dallas factory, and these were distinguished by the designation P-51K. Most of the P-51Ks fought in combat in the Pacific Theater of operations, although some were sent to Europe to fight the war as well.

Tamiya Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII 1:32 Scale

Tamiya Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII 1:32 Scale  (TAM60320)

The successor of the Spitfire Mk. V is the Mk. VIII. The Spitfire Mk. VIII was developed with improved features such as an enlarged rudder, Merlin 60 engine, shortened ailerons, a retractable tail landing gear, and fuel tanks on the edges of the wings. These new features were incorporated into later Spitfire variants. The plane was first used in service in the summer of 1943. Primarily, the Mk. VIII was used on fronts in the Mediterranean and the Pacific, as well as in battles against the Luftwaffe and Italian air forces in North Africa and Italy. The Mk. III also proved itself in battles against the Japanese Zero in China, Burma, Indian and Australia. The Mk. VIII's successes lead it to be the foundation for later Spitfire aircraft.

Tamiya Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc 1:32 Scale

Tamiya Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc 1:32 Scale  (TAM60319)

The Supermarine Spitfire is one of the most widely recognized fighters of WWII. Designed by R.J Mitchell, the Spitfire is known for its exploits during the Battle of Britain. Throughout the war, the Spitfire's engine technology evolved to compete with the newer Axis aircrafts. As a result, there are numerous variants of the Spitfire, which served with distinction in the RAF as well as in the air forces of other countries. The Spitfire Mk. IX was produced as a result of the German Fw190A fighter, which were superior to the earlier production Spitfire Mk. V. The new Spitfire Mk. IX was equipped with a Merlin Series 60/70 engine and two-stage supercharger. This improved the performance of the aircraft and allowed it to match the Fw190A in battle.

Tamiya Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVIe 1:32 Scale

Tamiya Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVIe 1:32 Scale  (TAM60321)

The Spitfre Mk.XVI was almost identical to the Mk.IX in nearly all aspects except that most were powered by a Packard-built Merlin 266 engine which had taller dimensions than the Rolls Royce 66 engine and featured a bubble canopy with a "low back" fuselage. Other new structural changes saw the Mk.XVI equipped with a larger 96 gallon main fuel tank, as well as two additional fuel tanks installed at the rear of the fuselage and a larger oil sump to allow it to flylonger distances. Mk.XVIes were mainly used in ground-attack roles and came with the "E" armament configuration of two 20mm cannons and two 12.7mm Browning machine guns. Also, as concrete tarmacs became more common as the war progressed, changes to the camber angle of the Spitfire's landing gears were made to make for more efficient landings and take-offs. With the changes made to the new gun and cannon positioning, ammunition ejection ports, and the landing gear design, the wings featured new bulges compared to the Mk.IX. The Mk.XVIe, served with distinction throughout Europe for the latter half of the war.

Tamiya Vought F4U-1A Corsair

Tamiya Vought F4U-1A Corsair "Birdcage" 1:32 Scale  (TAM60324)

The F4U-1 Corsair® was a truly unique aircraft, with a powerful 2,000hp engine and a massive 4m propeller, not to mention the highly characteristic inverted gull-wings. In October of 1940, it was the first American fighter to achieve a speed of 400mph (around 640kph). Initial production models of the aircraft featured a striking canopy called the "Birdcage". The aircraft took part in operations from February 1943, and with its powerful 12.7mm machine guns proved to be a formidable opponent for the Japanese Zero Fighters.

In order to capture the aircraft as accurately as possible, Tamiya designers not only inspected, measured and examined the real aircraft at five different museums across North America, they were also given access to Northrop-Grumman's blueprints. The result is a highly detailed and precise 1/32 scale model of the F4U-1 Corsair.

Tamiya Vought F4U-1A Corsair 1:32 Scale

Tamiya Vought F4U-1A Corsair 1:32 Scale  (TAM60325)

This is a highly detailed model recreating the F4U-1A variant of the highly popular Corsair model. Newly-designed parts are included in the kit to accurately capture the modifications which distinguish it from the original F4U-1. The F4U-1A drew on the experience of Navy and US Marine Corps pilots' experience with the original aircraft, making modifications to further improve the performance of this legendary bird.

One of the most noticeable alterations was the discarding of the “birdcage” cockpit and its extensive frame sections that hampered visibility; a semi-bubble canopy with minimal frame was installed instead, which improved the pilot's view and made it easier to land the F4U-1A. Additional upgrades included raising the pilot's seat 18cm to help with visibility, and later extending tail wheel struts by 16.5cm. A wedge shaped spoiler was added to the starboard wing to correct the tendency of the port wing to stall first and roll out of control.
