Billing Boats Andrea Gail "Perfect Storm" 1:30 Scale

Billing Boats Andrea Gail

Billing Boats Andrea Gail
The Andrea Gail, an un-inspected commercial fishing vessel departed Gloucester Harbour, Massachusetts, September 20, 1991 with six crewmembers on board. The crew intended to make a fishing trip for swordfish in the area of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, Canada. The vessel began its return voyage to Gloucester, MA. on October 26-27, 1991. On October 30, 1991, the vessel was reported overdue by the owner, Mr. Robert Brown. An extensive air and sea search was conducted utilizing U.S. and Canadian Cape Cod MA. However, the search did not locate the vessel or any of the crewmembers. The vessel and six crewmembers remain missing and are presumed lost at sea in a major storm, referred to as the "Perfect Storm" by a meteorologist and made famous by Sebastian Junger’s book (the book was later turned into a Hollywood movie). The sword fishermen were Captain William "Billy" Tyne, Robert "Bobby" Shatford of Gloucester, Dale Murphy and Michael "Bugsy" Moran of Bradenton Beach FL., David "Sully" Sullivan and Alfred Pierre of New York City.

Billing Boats of Denmark manufacture an outstanding range of high quality static and radio controlled model boats.

Using the latest Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) techniques, most kits contain laser cut wooden parts for precise accuracy and extensive fittings sets containing brass and or injection moulded plastics, resulting in models of great detail that are truly pleasurable to build.

In addition to ABS hulls, Billing Boats take pride in producing lovely plank on frame models, including the recent wooden version of the Andrea Gail (of the Perfect Storm). Also the gorgeous Evelyn fishing boat is a lovely build, built inverted and using its own hull frames as a self locking jig to secure the bulwarks. It is marks of quality such as these that have ensured that Billing Boats have remained leaders in model boat manufacture.

Exciting new technologies enable entire ships to be created in 3D computer form, in order to be sectioned into parts for laser cutting, from the new USS Constitution, HMS Victory, or HMS Warrior to the fantastic Fairmont Alpine salvage tug and finally the soon to be released RMS Titanic in 1/144 scale. Subjects such as these highly complex vessels were not possible just a few years ago. Rest assured, however, that whilst these ships are complex, the models are highly accurate and fit together perfectly.

Choose from a range of sailing yachts, racing boats, speed boats, sports boats, clipper ships, galleons, yawls, schooners, steam launches, fishing boats, research boats, fishing trawlers, tugs and frigates.

Whichever way you look at it, there is a Billing Boats model boat that is just right for you.
