The Hermann Marwede is one of the most up-to-date ships of her type in the world and is the largest lifesaving cruiser ever put into service in Germany. The ship was launched in the summer of 2003 and is stationed on the North Sea island of Helgoland. The technical equipment was designed by the supervisors, sailors and technicians according to their experience and requirements and meets modern safety standards. This lifesaving cruiser reaches a maximum speed of 25 knots (46 km/h) and has a maximum range of 2,120 sea miles (3,926 km) at 15 knots. The daughter boat "Verena" carried in the rear hull, due to her low draught, can also be used in shallow waters.
