 La Recouvrance is a magnificent tri-sail frigate built on the plans of the Iris (1817) by the naval architect Hubert.
After plying against the slave trade from Senegal, she cruised to Antilles and Brazil. Originally fitted out to a remarkable level at Rochefort in 1829, she ended her career in 1844 at Toulon.

Rose-Marie, Granville Fishing Smack 1899

 The fishing smacks of the French Channel coast were the typical craft in the bay of Saint Michel and remained in service until the forties, when sail was gradually ousted by the internal combustion engine.
From the mid Nineteenth century, the Granville smacks held traditional regattas two or three times a year with their colleagues from Cancale. On these occasions, the boats rigged a third tier of sails known locally as "little fingers"
