The Royal Louis was a 3-deck vessel with 120 guns. Its captain was a Squadron Admiral. It was one of the most powerful first-rank vessels belonging to the French Royal Navy at the time. Mamoli's model represents the Royal Louis according to the plans of 1779, when it was the admiral ship of the blue and white Squadron, being part of the American Squadron, also called Earl Estaing’s.

The Mamoli Royal Louis kit features the following:
A Double planked hull construction using Lime and Walnut strips, pre cut frames and keel, deck planked in tanganyika, fittings made from brass, walnut, boxwood, and beech, wooden masts and spars, cast stern and quarter galleries, brass cannon barrels, rigging cord and silk flags. Full size plan sheets and a multi language instruction manual.
