Graupner Model Boat Kits

Graupner's range of RC boats are a very good quality range of model boat kits. The majority of Graupner kits are made with ABS hulls with plastic and brass fittings. The fitting kits on some models are sold separately and are available to purchase either at the time of ordering or at a later stage. Full size Plan sheets and building instructions in English are included.

Graupner list their recommended options for the kits, these are available in the relevant sections of our catalogue, and range from Drive units to Electric Motors and Steam Engines. We are also starting to incorporate downloadable pdf documents detailing Graupners recommended options for each kit. We also offer complete tailor made hardware packages for these model, these can be found under the related products.

The Altona is a semi-scale model of a steam launch.
Two variants of the boat can be built: with electric motor or steam engine.
All parts which are difficult to make, including hull, stern, rudder, deck, superstructure, roof light and funnel are supplied as GRP parts, moulded to very high standards.
A fittings set is available separately containing metal and injection-moulded parts, making the model easier and quicker to complete.

The field of operation of the fullsize fishing cutters is mainly the North Sea. The vessels are equipped with powerful combustion engines. The sails of the mizzen mast near the stern only serve to stabilize the cutter when running.
Despite its small dimensions (scale 1:60th) the model duplicates the fullsize counterpart well. Thanks to its ready-formed hull moulded of ABS plastic and the many injection-moulded parts the model can be assembled in a short time, requiring little skill for its completion.

Scale model of a 23m cruiser based on original drawings supplied by the Deutsche Gesellschaft zurRettung Schiffbrüchiger (German Association for the Rescue of the Shipwrecked - www.dgzrs.de).
The ocean-going rescue cruiser was christened Bernhard Gruben on 16.10.1997,after the foreman of the Alfried Krupp who was lost at sea during a mission in 1995.

The daughter boat Johann Fidi(II) was christened in memory of the Rass family of Norderney, which had provided several generations of lifeboat crew members.
Since 05.08.1997 the Bernhard Gruben has been stationed at the Norderney rescue base.

Bremen 9 WSP Marine Police Long Distance Boat 1:20 Scale

This new long-distance boat, the Bremen 9, was commissioned in December 1992 by the Marine Police of the Free Hanseatic town of Bremen. It is a new, innovative design whose general shape and layout mark it out from the usual run of German official vessels. The boat which was drawn up using the latest knowledge of high-speed boat design, is based on the concept of "Deep-Vee" planing boats which are used for off-shoreracing. On its very first run the boat achieved a speed of over 30 knots, easily exceeding the design brief of 27 knots. The hull lines indicate a maximum speed potential of over 45 knots. The Bremen 9's unusual size makes it suitable as a long-distance vessel in the harsh environment of the waters around sea coasts as well as in the shipping lanes, usually known as the inland waters. The boat's forecastle mounts a fire-fighting cannon capable of firing 400 litres of water per minute.

Bugsier 3 was one of the first harbour tugs to be operated by the Bugsier-Reederei & Bergungs Aktiengesellschaft of Hamburg. Bugsier 3 is a highly maneouverable ship, equipped with a powerful engine. It has been designed for towing and warping other ships. Compared with today's more stream-lined tugboats, Bugsier 3 looks rather conventional.
Its two big masts and the rather angular shape of the superstructure give the boat a personal and functional, yet particularly attractive touch of its own.

This model of the paddler tug Glasgow has been designed to 1:40 scale using English drawings. The scarce information available on the history and career of this tug indicates that it was mainly operated in ports of Northern England and Scotland.
The modeller has the option of powering his model with an electric motor or - just like the fullsize vessel - with a steam engine. All difficult to fashion parts, such as hull, paddle wheel covers, life boat, skylights, companionways, pressure vents etc. are moulded of ABS plastic. The wood parts all come profusely pre-shaped.

The Neptun is a freelance design of a cargo motor ship. Thanks to simple construction it should be particularly suitable for the junior modeller. The superstructures can be moved from their normal position over the center hatch to one over the aft hatch. This permits building the model either as a cargo vessel or as a container transport. Containers are available as a supplementary set.
Profusely pre-fabbed components, such as hull, superstructures, life boats and cranes etc. simplify the assembly and shorten the building time. The use of plywood for the decks in place of plastic parts is the result of numerous requests by ship modellers.

The new 9-metre sea rescue boat with Delta hull is one of a series of seven new vessels which have been developed on the basis of previous SAR units. The design of this new boat type incorporates the knowledge and experience of the rescue teams in the Search and Rescue (SAR) service. Like all SAR units of the DGzRS (German Sea Rescue Service) this 9m boat is of welded, sea-water resistant aluminium construction, exploiting the proven network bulwark system. The main feature of this type of vessel is its outstanding sea-worthiness. In shallow waters, with heavy seas and breakers, the boat remains stable, manoeuvres perfectly,survives serious grounding and is capable of running alongside other vessels even at fairly high speeds and in difficult conditions thanks to the shock-absorbing fender system running all round the hull.

 Graupner Otto Lauffer
The steam launch Otto Lauffer was built at H.C. Stülcken & Son in Hamburg in 1928. The launch is powered by a 2-cylinder compound steam engine rated at 100 BHP (75 kW). It is capable of a top speed of 9.5 knots, carries a 3-man crew and is licensed to carry 30 passengers.
The launch was built under contract to the Hamburg Finance Committee, and initially bore the name Hafenpolizei (Harbour Police) VI. The vessel later changed hands, and its name was changed to Wasserschutzpolizei (Marine Police) 6 when it belonged to the Hamburg Marine Police service. The boat's current owner is the Museum of Hamburg History, and the launch was assigned the name Otto Lauffer in honour of the museum's first Director.

The Parat harbour tug was built in 1983 by the Detlef Hegemann Roland dockyard, and delivered in the same year to the Hamburg-based Luetgens & Reimers shipping company. The ship is equipped with 2 Voith-Schneider propellers, powered by 2 x 6-cylinder e 4T K.H. Deutz diesel engines each rated at 2460 BHP, giving the vessel a tensile power of 32.2 tonnes. The tug also features a comprehensive fire-fighting system for use in the lower Elbe region. The Graupner model of the PARAT has been developed with the help and support of the D. Hegemann Roland dockyard, who kindly supplied actual design office drawings. As with the full-size vessel the model is powered by 2 VOITH-SCHNEIDER propellers, although it is possible to replace the VOITH-SCHNEIDER units with two Schottel I drive units at the builder´s discretion.

The Ranzow is a multi-purpose ship designed for operations in shallow, confined waters. It can cope with many tasks including transport of personnel, equipment and materials, the maintenance of navigation buoys, ice-breaking missions and other tasks. The vessel is fitted with a remotely controlled hydraulic crane for work on deck. The mast can be folded down, and the searchlight on the bridge swung forward and down, to enable the ship to pass under low bridges. Powerful rudders and a bow thruster provide excellent manoeuvring capability, while extra electronic equipment allows the crew to operate and monitor all systems from two control towers.

In 1992/1993 the Detlef Hegemann Roland dockyard collaborated with the Deutsche Industrie-Werke GMB to design and build two tugs for the Italian Shipping Company Tito Neri Rimorchiatori based at Livorno. The ships are of identical design and were assigned the names Tito Neri and Algerini Neri.

They currently rate amongst the most modern ocean-going and harbour assistance tugs in the world. Their towing equipment consists of a combination of winches on the after deck and foredeck. Each winch is driven by a hydraulic motor and has a tractive power of 15 t. The tugs are also equipped with a powerful fire-fighting system and a fire self-protection system. The manoeuvrability required for these vessels intended tasks is provided by two Schottel drive systems and a bow thruster. Total engine power of 2x2000 BHP provides a forward thrust of 55t, and the maximum running speed is 12.5 knots.

 The Graupner Vegesack is the daughter boat of the Adolph Bermpohl. It can be built as a standalone model.

Despite small dimensions both rudder and main drive motor are radio-controlled. Thanks to proportional control of the rudder and the motor being separately controlled, the launching and recovering manoeuvres of the daughter boat can be performed reliably in conjunction with the Adolph Bermpohl rescue boat. Operated without the latter the boat will prove great fun, too, and please everyone due to its interesting shape.

At the time of the vessel's introduction the Weser was Europe's most modern fire-fighting cruiser, and the German Federal Republic's first ocean-going fire-fighting boat which was also able to operate in coastal waters. The fire-fighting cruiser was built in the Schichau-Unterweser yard, and was christened in Bremerhaven on 28.01.1974. Its primary area of action is the regional harbour systems and the River Weser reaching as far as the sea. In its lifetime the Weser has been subjected to one comprehensive refit, the most conspicuous modification being a new, sealed, gas-tight bridge. For fighting fires the Weser carries three fire cannon (fire monitors), capable of hurling a stream of water over a distance of up to 100 m. One of the cannon is mounted on a stand above the double funnel, and this can be extended to a height of 17 m above the waves. The two double searchlights above the lattice mast can also be extended upward, making nocturnal action considerably easier.

The motor torpedo boats of the Zobel class are slightly improved versions of the Jaguar class vessels, and were launched in the year 1961. After just 8 years the four torpedo tubes were replaced by two stern torpedo tubes, and at the same time an improved radar system was installed. These modifications brought the boats up to the standard required for altered service requirements. In the early 1980´s the boats were de-commissioned and sold, some to the Turkish navy (among them the Wiesel), the remainder to other owners; the worn-out vessels ended their days as target ships.
