The Schooner Albatros was constructed in the Baltimore shipyards in 1840. It had a gun deck as it was built to defend the North American coast.
Its slim hull and continuous deck were copied from the French frigates that often sailed into the American ports during the War of Independence.

The kit includes laser cut wooden parts for plank-on-bulkhead construction. Fittings include hardwood deadeyes and blocks, cast metal anchor, brass eyebolts and chain, several diameters of rigging line and sailcloth. Brass cannons on walnut carriages. Detailed plans, step by step photo-illustrated instructions, display stand and pedestals included.
