Tamiya Ferrari F60 - w/Photo Etched Parts

Tamiya Ferrari F60 - w/Photo Etched Parts  (TAM20059)

It has been six years since Tamiya has released a all new 1/20 scale F1 model. New for 2009, Tamiya brings F1 modeling to a new level of detail with the Ferrari F60 F1 car. The 2009 F1 world championship challenger was dubbed the F60 due to Ferrari celebrating 60 year of competition. The new F1 Ferrari debuted at the Australian Grand Prix. The F60 started off the season slow, but has gone on to win first place at Round 4 and scored points in every race since. The F60 has taken three 3rd place finishes, one 2nd place finish and a 1st place win at the Belgian Grand Prix. After 12 races, Ferrari holds the third position in the Constructors standings.

Tamiya Ferrari F189 Portuguese GP Kit

Tamiya Ferrari F189 Portuguese GP Kit  (TAM20024)

To comply with the drastic regulation changes that took effect starting the 1989 F-1 racing season, the Ferrari team brought out their revolutionary F189 type 640 machine. Designer John Barnard and his staff have successfully developed a unique but very effective racer. The very esthetic body styling resembling a vase when viewed from above, is the result of extensive wind tunnel testing, and is said to provide better internal airflow. The normally aspirated, 3.5 liter displacement powerplant is Ferrari's traditional 12 cylinder in a V format, and incorporates 5 valves per cylinder. One of the more controversial features of this racer is the semi-automatic gear box. It is an electronically controlled, seven-speed gear box that aides the awesome powerplant in keeping its RPM powerband viable during all out competition circuit runs. The system is activated by a rocker located behind the steering wheel. The conventional clutch pedal is still present, but it is used only for starting the racer. The shock absorbers for the front push rod suspension system are mounted on top of the front monocoque section, enabling the racer to obtain an exceptionally narrow nose. When combines with the remarkable talents of drivers Nigel Mansell and Gerhard Berger, the Ferrari F189 has delighted motorsports fans with first class performance throughout the 1989 season.

After the ban was lifted on traction control, launch control and other high-tech devices at the 5th race in Spain, the F2001 was finished with an arsenal of new equipment to further outclass rivals. By the 13th race Schumacher had already clutched the championship with 9 wins, earning him 53 total wins in his career, as he became the most successful F1 driver of all time and the Ferrari F2001 the undisputed top machine in F1 history.

Tamiya Honda F1 RA272

Tamiya Honda F1 RA272  (TAM20043)

About the Honda F1 RA272

The 1965 Mexican Grand Prix was not just the last race of the season, but also the last Formula-One race using normally aspirated 1.5 liter displacement engines. The car that won this memorable even was Honda's highly competitive RA272 racing machine, driven by the skilled driver Richie Ginther. Honda was the first Japanese car manufacturer to participate in F-1 Grand Prix racing, and this was their first F-1 victory since entering the 1964 German Grand Prix. Honda competed in the 1964 season using their RA271 machine, piloted by the young American driver Ronnie Bucknum. Although the RA271 occassionally showed a glimpse of its hidden potential, it failed to record any remarkable results. A discouraging season lead Honda to develop a much more integrated F-1 racing machine. Following the 1964 season, Honda thoroughly improved the machine and redesignated it the RA272. Its high tech and powerful, transversely mounted V-12 cylinder engine was said to yield an amazing 220 plus horsepower. Richie Ginther joined the team beginning the season, and his racing experience helped the team in further refining the RA272. He gained 6th place in the Belgian and Dutch GP's, and finally won the Mexican victory on October 24th 1965. Taking the lead just after the start, Ginther's RA272 recorded a perfect win, without yielding the top position throughout the race. Partner Bucknum also earned 5th place, adding to Honda's racing laurels.

Tamiya Lotus Type 78 1977 - w/Photo Etched Parts

Tamiya Lotus Type 78 1977 - w/Photo Etched Parts  (TAM20065)

Lotus has brought a number of innovations to F1 racing since they entered their firstrace in 1958. The introduction of ground effect cars, the result of their aerodynamics research, was one of the highlights. In 1977, Lotus introduced the Type 78 (base model for the Type 79) which had a slim monocoque chassis and wide side pontoons with under surfaces like inverted aircraft wings. Airfow beneath the side pontoons thus enabled the body to generate downforce for stronger traction and faster cornering speeds. Mario Andretti and Gunnar Nilsson drove the car in the 1977 season, and despite early season troubles, they went on to take 4 and 1 wins respectively to prove the car's potential.

Tamiya McLaren Honda MP4/4

Tamiya McLaren Honda MP4/4  (TAM89719)

Unleashed on the world at the opening race of the 1988 Formula One season in Brazil, the MP4/4 made light of the 150-liter fuel tank and 2.5 bar boost restrictions on turbo-charged engines, outperforming machines with 3.5-liter normally aspirated engines. In the sure hands of the famous driving duo of Prost and Senna, the compact MP4/4 put the competition to the sword in truly dominating fashion, with a scarcely believable 15 victories from 16 races. It was a truly fitting way to mark what would be Honda's final season in Formula One for some time.

Externally, the 928S featured a new wheel design, front and rear spoilers, and a distinctive crease line along the body sides to differentiate it from the standard 928. Tamiya Red Bull Racing Renault RB6

Tamiya Red Bull Racing Renault RB6  (TAM20067)

The 2010 Formula One season saw Sebastian Vettel become the youngest ever Formula One champion while driving the Red Bull RB6. During the season, the car demonstrated excellent performance, although the season was certainly not smooth sailing for the team. In fact, the competition was fierce and four drivers entered the season finale with a chance to claim the Drivers' Championship. 2006 world champion Fernando Alonso of Ferrari led the overall standings, with Vettel in fourth place and needing to win the race as well as hope that Alonso would finish in fifth place or lower in order to be crowned as the champion. Starting from pole position, Vettel remained calm through the chaotic race, which included a safety car deployment on the opening lap, and took the checkered flag. Remarkably, Alonso was only able to finish in seventh place, which allowed Vettel to complete his miraculous comeback to claim the first Formula One title for himself and for Red Bull Racing. The 1/20 scale Tamiya model faithfully captures Adrian Newey's sleek design in every detail.

Tamiya Tyrrell P34 1977 Monaco GP  (TAM20053)

In the 1976 F1 World Championships, Tyrrell P34 six-wheeler made its debut and demonstrated outstanding performance throughout the season. In the following season, P34 obtained First National City Bank as its main sponsor and changed its cowl painting to blue and white two-tone. The P34 in this season featured full engine cowling to improve aero-dynamics and was driven by P. Depailler and R. Peterson. Tyrrell encountered trouble when the development of P34's unique front tires stagnated as a result of the tire war between Michelin and Goodyear, but they continued their efforts to win by making minor-alterations to their P34 machines throughout the season.

Walter Wolf Racing was founded in 1977 by Canadian businessman Walter Wolf and his team's WR1 competed from 1977 until the 1978 Monaco GP. Driven by Jody Scheckter, the WR1 won on its debut at the 1977 Argentina GP, which was a great accomplishment as it was the first race for both the team and car. The WR1, created by Hesketh Racing designer Harvey Postlethwaite, was light and considerably compact. Four WR1s were made and designated with chassis numbers WR1-WR4. They were all basically the same but depending on the course, two kinds of wheelbases were prepared. J. Scheckter also won the Monaco and Canadian GPs and claimed 2nd in the 1977 drivers' championship.
